Research Abstract |
In the present study, we used rat brain slice preparations to investigate the sleep/wake-state dependent synaptic plasticity in inhibitory synapses in the neocortex. Pharmacological analyses, dual whole-cell recordings and non-steady state noise analyses revealed the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the state-dependent plasticity induced in inhibitory synapses at the apical dendrite and/or soma of cortical pyramidal neurons.
