Research Abstract |
We investigated whether exercise-induced arterial hypoxemia (EIAH) would be improved by inhalation of hyperoxic and/or hypercapnicgas in young women. Subjects performed two separate exercise tests, 30s all-out cycling and three bouts of 10s cycling with 120s intervals, using a cycle ergometer. In both exercises, inhaled 30%O2or 20%O2+5%CO2attenuated EIAH that observed in normoxia, but additive effects of 30%O2and 5%CO2gases on EIAH were not found.
