Research Abstract |
Photomutagenic activity of cigarette smoke condensate (CSC) with UVA-irradiation was investigated. Sidestream CSC was more photomutagenic than mainstream CSC. Photomutagenic potency was not related to the tar contents of cigarette. No significant increase of 8-OHdG was detected under the conditions used. Tobacco specific nitrosamins (TSNA) may be responsible for the photomutagenicity.
