Research Abstract |
In the reading acquisition of a second language (L2), the learner ’ s native language (L1) plays a supporting role, not only intervening, as a part of L2graphophonological skills. The strategy embedded in L1 may help the learner analyze the L2 structure and induce compensatory strategies that enhance the acquisition.
