Research Abstract

本年度はインダス文明期における工芸品生産・流通システムの復元を目的として、インダス文明期のファイアンス製品、石製装身具および銅製品の分析・研究を実施した。
具体的にはインド共和国北西部に広がるガッガル平原に分布するファイアンス製品および石製装身具の実測・写真撮影による記録化および形態分析と、XRF(蛍光X線)による化学組成分析を行ったほか、同じくガッガル平原の遺跡から出土した銅製品の化学組成分析および製作技術の分析を実施した。また、同じくインド共和国に所在するグジャラート地方において、石製装身具に用いられる焉璃の原産地を踏査し、石製装身具の製作技法およびその流通システムに関する検討を行った。
特にファイアンス製品および銅製品については、インダス文明後半期(前2200～前1900年頃)からインダス文明衰退後(前1900～前1500年頃)にかけての資料の分析を実施したが、その結果インダス文明の衰退を経ても、用いられる素材および製作技術には顕著な変化は認め、られないことが確認できた。これまでインダス文明め衰退と物質文化の変化に関する詳細な研究は、国内外でもほとんど行われておらず、「衰退」の意味が十分に明らかにされていなかったが、今年度の研究で文明社会の衰退と工芸品生産の間には明らかな関連性はなく、むしろ流通システムにおける変化が文明社会の衰退と関わっている可能性が明らかにされた。
調査の実施にあたっては、2011年12月3日～12月24日に遠藤仁、2011年8月20日～10月1日および2011年12月10日～2012年2月29日に上杉彰紀、2012年1月14日～1月25日に中井泉がインド共和国に渡航し、調査を実施した。
