Research Abstract

次世代のクリーンエネルギー源としての太陽光エネルギーの高度利用を念頭に置いた[太陽光/太陽光励起レーザー/電気]エネルギー変換コンセプトを提言し、これを可能とする革新的な電磁流体力学(MHD)発電の実現を目的とした。
大気圧条件下で生成されるレーザー誘起プラズマの特性を把握することは、レーザー駆動MHD発電機を実現するために極めて重要である。しかしながら、従来、その物理化学特性の詳細を知ることは容易ではなかった。これは、作動ガス(主にヘリウム・アルゴンなどの希ガス)に微量の大気成分が混入するためである。この問題の解決に取り組み、平成22年度より欧米研究機関[Queens University Belfast(英)・Trinity College Dublin(アイルランド)・Wesleyan University(米)]とのレーザー生成プラズマに関する共同研究を推進している。
本年度は、特に、パルスレーザー誘起大気圧プラズマを対象としたシミュレーション研究を行った。実験研究成果を鑑みたモデリングを行い、ヘリウムガス・湿潤空気の混在する実環境における極めて豊富な化学種の挙動およびその複合化学反応過程を明らかにした。特に、ナノ~ミリ秒スケールで変化する電子温度・電子数密度・準安定種密度・電気伝導度・輸送係数等の物理量を把握した。このことは、レーザー駆動MHD発電機を実現する上で極めて意義深い。また、ここで開発した数値計算コードは、レーザープラズマのみならず、広く大気圧プラズマ等の特性シミュレーションにも利用できるという汎用性を有している。
