Research Abstract

日本人の二重構造モデルでは、縄文人は東南アジア起源とされている。しかし、最近の研究では、縄文人と現在の北東アジア人類集団との遺伝的関係が示されてきている。
本研究では、主に形態学的研究結果から提示されてきた縄文人の東南アジア起源説を、やはり形態学の立場から再検討し、縄文人の起源を洗い直すことを目的として開始した。一般に、ある集団の由来や系統について形態学的にアプローチする場合、比較集団間における形の類似性が重要視される。しかし、形の類似性による集団間関係は平行進化や収斂あるいは集団間の遺伝的な交流などにより過大評価され、他方、遺伝的浮動や地理的隔離、遺伝子流入などによって過小評価され得る。
本年度は縄文時代人骨について、人口規模に関連する地域内、地域間変異からその集団構造を分析し、彼らの地理的変異とその由来、近隣諸集団との類似性について再検討した。その結果、日本列島では、縄文時代人では、北海道が一番多様性が高かった。また、縄文時代人は、北東アジアとの類縁性が示唆された。また、頭蓋および歯冠形態といった基本データ以外にも、各サンプルの出自地域の環境データ(緯度、経度、平均気温、湿度、降雨量など)、人口規模、生業形態に関するデータの整備を行った。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

各サンプルの出自地域の環境データ(緯度、経度、平均気温、湿度、降雨量など)、人口規模、生業形態に関するデータと、頭蓋および歯冠形態データとの関連を明らかにするためGeograpgic Information System(GIS)を駆使した解析を推進する。
