Research Abstract |
We studied clinical implication of indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenese (IDO), a tryptophan metabolite, for plaque instability in patients undergoing endarterectomy for atherosclerotic carotid stenosis. Although radiological examination such as high-resolution MR plaque imaging could detect plaque instability, any of serological markers has not yet been established. Relevance of local existence of IDO and characteristics of carotid plaque is immuno- histochemically under investigation.
