Research Abstract

Extreme drought tolerance exhibited by a GA deficient mutant of rice was investigated. The mutant does not show drought avoidance but overexpress unique genes for drought tolerance. GA metabolizing gene was placed under drought inducible promoter and introduced into rice plants in order to create drought tolerant transgenic rice.
