マラリア原虫による抑制化レセプターを介した新たな免疫逃避機構の探索

Research Abstract

マラリアの制御には宿主免疫応答が非常に重要な役割を担っている一方、マラリア原虫には様々な免疫制御機構が存在すると考えられている。一方、我々は、持続感染するヘルペスウイルス等のウイルスには抑制化レセプターを介した免疫逃避機構が存在することを明らかにしてきた。しかし、ウイルスと同様に宿主免疫機構と密接な相互作用をするマラリア原虫に同様な分子機構が存在するかどうかは明らかになっていない。
そこで、本研究では、マラリア原虫による抑制化レセプターを介した新たな免疫逃避機構を追求した。その結果、マラリア原虫感染赤血球に抑制化レセプターのリガンドが発現していることが明らかになった。さらに、リガンド分子の同定を試みたところ、マラリア原虫由来の分子がリガンドであることが判明し、マラリア原虫の新たな免疫逃避機構であると考えられた。
