Research Abstract |
There are many clinical reports about patients with schizophrenia who have less sensitivity to pain even in a severe clinical situation. However, it is unclear why these phenomenons occur. We clarified that patients with schizophrenia had different sensitivity to experimental pain ; less sensitive to experimental heat stimulation and more sensitive to experimental electrical stimulation. And we clarified that the patients with schizophrenia had different feeling to each experimental pain. Furthermore we clarified that patients with schizophrenia needed less analgesics after major abdominal surgery.
