波長依存同位体効果による古大気組成の解読

Research Abstract

地層に記録された同位体情報から古大気組成を復元する目的のため、大気化学反応を模擬した光解離実験を行った。本年の実験は、まず分光器を備えた光化学反応セルを作成および改良し、波長150～300nm領域を0.1nm分解能で紫外スペクトルを取りつつ反応を行えるシステムが完成した。また生成物の回収ラインとガスクロマトグラフ質量分析計を導入し、生成物の同定および定量分析が可能になった。このシステムを用いて模擬古大気中でのSO2光解離反応を行ったところ、CO/CO2比の高い雰囲気下では乖離したSO2がCOSに変換されることが実験的に確かめられた。これは還元大気中で硫黄の化学種はCOSの状態で存在したとする予測を支持する結果である。また、SO2分子の吸収スペクトルについて、これまでの同位体種に加えて36SO2のスペクトル測定を行うことに初めて成功し、データ解析を行っている。これにより36S/33S比が古大気組成の制約にとって最も強力な指標となることが期待される。また、インド・ダルワール地塊での地質調査および試料採取を行った。その結果、大気・気候変動期にあたる30-23億年前の層序を一部復元した。今後採取試料の年代決定・同位体分析に移行する。一方、1次元大気化学モデルは従来数値モデルの改良では不適当と判断し、反応の数を減らすことで根本から組み直す選択をし、コード開発を進めている。
