Research Abstract |
I revealed that N-terminal processed PAP-III(ΔN-PAP-III) formed fibrillar structures and attached tightly to neuronal surfaces. When a dense networks ofΔN-PAP-III fibers were prepared on the culture dishes, neurites preferentially adhere to theΔN-PAP-III fibers and neurite extension was enhanced. These results suggest a possibility that PAP-III may form insoluble fibrillar structures around injury site and would provide regenerating axons with a platform for elongation.
