Research Abstract |
At the excitatory presynaptic terminal, we measured the rate of vesicle refilling with glutamate by rapidly increasing cytosolic glutamate concentration using caged compound photolysis, after depleting vesicular glutamate by whole-cell dialysis. Vesicle refilling rate, assessed from postsynaptic currents, had a time constant of about 15s at room temperature, and filled within 1 min for next exocytosis.
