Research Abstract

The study on Frederick Douglass's discourse on masculinity in his later years is based on my previous study of Douglass. Even though he was born as a slave, Douglass was an eminent abolitionist, orator, and author. Focusing on his race and masculinity discourse in his slave narrative, novel, memoir, and other papers, I revealed the characteristics of racial presentation in 19th century America and also showed that his discourse on masculinity has still an influence on the present time.
