Research Abstract

In order to demonstrate the enhancement in the chemical reaction caused by the" nonequilibrium local heating", we have constructed a heterogeneous catalytic reaction system containing the ferromagnetic metal particle catalysts such as Ni.
First, we have successfully prepared face-centered cubic(fcc) Ni nanoparticles having long-chain amine ligands within an extremely short time under microwave irradiation. The particle sizes were controlled using several long-chain amine ligands.
We have demonstrated the enhancement in the C-C coupling reaction caused by the" nonequilibrium local heating" of the surface of the Ni particles under microwave irradiation. Dispersed ferromagnetic particles should act as a catalyst and provide with their surface as a reaction field.
