Research Abstract |
In this study, our data revealed that the oxidative stress-inducible transcription factor Nrf2 mediates carnosiid-inducible NGF gene expression directly in glial cells. We also found that carnosic acidacacnd IL-1β cooperatively enhances NGFgene expression. Since NGF functions as a neurotrophic factor and inflammatory cytokine, these results indicate that Nrf2 may regulate neural or immune cell function through NGF gene regulation.
