Bipolar disorder is characterized by biological rhythm disturbances as well as mood swings. Emerging evidence indicates that there is a signaling pathway modulating both circadian cycles and mood. The results of this study suggest that Wnt signaling mediates circadian rhythms in cultured fibroblast cells and that fibroblast rhythms predict individual circadian rhythm traits.
