Research Abstract |
The neurons in the medial vestibular and the prepositus hypoglossi nucleus are hyperpolarized due to transient outward potassium current through KATP channels during transient ischemia. This mechanism is thought to be a self-defense system which enables to prevent neurons from ischemic injury.
