Research Abstract |
We investigated whether High Mobility Group Box(HMGB)-1 is expressed and released in ocular tissue and inhibition of HMGB-1 in vivo can suppress ocular inflammation using endotoxin. induced uveitis(EIU). Immunohistochemical study showed higher expression of HMGB-1 in cornea and iris in EIU. induced rats compared to control rats. However, neutralization of HMGB-1 was not able to reduce ocular inflammation in EIU. These results suggest that HMGB-1 may not be involved in the destruction of blood-aqueous barrier in EIU-induced rats.
