Research Abstract |
Ascorbic acid is water-soluble vitamin which has important role in collagen metabolism. This study revealed that SVCTs, ascorbic acid transporter, expressed widely in collagen-rich connective tissue, periodontal ligament. This result suggests that SVCT may contribute to keeping of homeostasis of periodontal tissues and to pathogenesis of periodontal disease.
