Research Abstract |
In this research, we empirically investigate determinants of trade policy preferences of individuals, by using micro-data of Japanese voters. Our analysis shows that Japanese voters determined their preferences based on distributional effects of trade policy change. We also find that non-economic determinants play an important role in explaining the preferences over trade liberalization.
