Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、オーロラの構造形成とダイナミクスに関する物理機構、ならびに、オーロラ電子加速機構について、プラズマ物理学の第一原理にもとづいた理論・数値シミュレーションによる解明を目指す。スーパーコンピュータを用いた磁気圏-電離圏結合系のシミュレーションを行い、オーロラの大域的な成長と微細渦構造の形成・動的発展、さらに、オーロラ構造の非線形発達とオーロラ電子加速を同時に再現する世界初の成果を目指す。加えて、衛星および地上観測との比較により、理論の検証を行う。これらを通じ、オーロラ現象をプラズマ物理学の問題として位置付け、オーロラの構造形成と動態の謎、オーロラ粒子加速の謎に挑む。
