Outline of Research at the Start

ダイバリオンはクォーク 6 つからなるエキゾティックな状態だがその内部構造はよくわからない。これまでに発見されたダイバリオンでは、終状態に重陽子を見出す反応を使っていたため、アイソスピンは 0 か 1 であった。本研究では、2 や 3 といった高いアイソスピン状態のダイバリオンの質量と幅を決定することで、ダイバリオンが 2 バリオンの分子状態なのか、コンパクトな 6 クォーク状態なのかを特定する。これにより強い力からどのようにハドロンを形成するのかの謎に迫る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、ドイツCOSYで発見されたスピン3、アイソスピン0の6つのクォークからなるd*(2380)ダイバリオンとスピン・アイソスピン鏡映状態をJ-PARCのπ20ビームラインの陽子・陽子衝突反応で観測し、その質量からダイバリオンの内部自由度が何かを特定することにある。本研究では、飛跡検出器の細分化と多層化、および立体角の向上のため、多終状態粒子の軌跡を分離する多層FT、上下方向のRPC、前方のプラスチックシンチレータのホドスコープ(FH)の3 つの検出器群を開発・建設する。RPCについては、製作した1.8 m長の試作機に対してSPring-8のLEPS2ビームラインおよびJ-PARCのK1.8BRビームラインにおいてビーム照射試験を行った。検出効率の位置依存性が見られ、高電圧の印可位置からの距離に応じて性能が悪化することが分かった。その原因は、高圧電極の抵抗率が高すぎたため、高電圧印可位置からの距離に伴って充分電圧がかからなくなったためであった。そこで代替品として、これまで使用していたカーボンを用いない、銅のパッドとチップ抵抗を用いた新型高圧電極の試験を行い、基礎性能が出ていることを確認した。FTについては、SPring-8のLEPS2ビームラインでビーム照射試験を行った。求めた飛跡とファイバーとの距離(残差)から位置分解能と検出器製作時のファイバーのずれを評価した。ずれに関しては、解析の手法の違いで50 um程度のずれの違いを生じていたので、この解析の手法を検討中である。またファイバー検出器読み出し用モジュールのCIRSAMAEの製作を行い、全数問題なく動作することを確認した。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

FTの開発に関しては、SPring-8のLEPS2ビームラインでビーム照射試験を行った。求めた飛跡とファイバーとの距離(残差)から位置分解能と検出器製作時のファイバーのずれを評価した。ずれに関しては、解析の手法の違いで50 um程度のずれの違いを生じていたので、この解析の手法を検討中である。またファイバー検出器読み出し用モジュールのCIRSAMAEの製作を行い、全数問題なく動作することを確認した。RPCの開発に関しては、プロトタイプのビーム試験を行い、高電圧印可位置の近くでは目標性能が出ていることを確認した。しかしながら高圧電極からの距離に応じた性能の位置依存性が見られたため、高圧電極の代替品の試験が必要となった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

FTの開発に関してはCIRASAMEを実機ファイバー検出器を組み合わせた試験の実施を実施し、飛跡検出の性能評価 (位置分解能や位置のずれの系統的評価)を行う。RPCの開発に関しては、高圧電極の代替品の試験を行う。銅パッドを用いた電極の他、ナノカーボン分散系、ポリチオフェン系、フッ素樹脂系などの導電性ポリマーを使った電極を試験する。
