Outline of Research at the Start

太陽系起源の解明には,太陽系初期および誕生直前イベントの年代決定が必要となる.短寿命核種は,初期太陽系イベントおよび超新星爆発などの核合成イベントの年代測定に利用できる.これらの年代学では『短寿命核種の太陽系内均質分布』が仮定されていたが,近年この仮定が不当と判明し,方法論の変革が迫られている.本研究では,同位体不均質性に基づく新手法により,これらの年代学を再構築する. 初期太陽系年代学では,短寿命・安定核種の共変動から短寿命核種年代計を較正し,初期太陽系史年表を書き換える.核宇宙年代学では,超新星同一過程で合成される短・超長寿命核種の不均質性を結合し,超新星爆発年代を推定する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は,同位体不均質性に立脚した新たな方法論により,初期太陽系・核宇宙年代学を再構築するものである. 初期太陽系年代学では,消滅核種Al-26不均質性とTi安定同位体変動の相関から隕石26Al年代を較正し,初期太陽系イベントの年表を書き換える.核宇宙年代学では,超新星の同一過程で合成される短寿命核種92Nb・98Tcと超長寿命核種La-138の不均質性を結合することで,超新星爆発の年代を高確度で推定し,『超新星爆発が太陽系誕生の引き金』とする仮説を検証する.
2023年度には,様々な始原的隕石中のコンドリュールについてTi同位体分析を実施してきた.これらの結果を,同コンドリュールのAl-Mg年代と組み合わせることで,コンドリュール形成年代の再評価が可能となる.さらに,これらのTi同位体分析手法をHayabusa2ミッションで持ち帰ったRyugu試料に応用した結果を,国際学術誌Science Advancesにおいて報告した.核宇宙年代学では本年度,原始太陽系円盤における超新星放出物分布の不均質性を明らかにすべく,隕石試料の高精度La同位体分析を開始した.先行研究では,炭素質コンドライトの難揮発性包有物での見つかっていたLa同位体異常であったが,高精度で測定した結果,炭素質コンドライト全岩でも同位体異常を検出することに成功した.また,地球の種々の岩石試料についてLa同位体分析を行うことにより,惑星内過程におけるLa同位体分別の程度を評価した.
また,当初の計画にはなかったが,研究代表者と研究分担者の共同研究として行った長寿命放射性核種Lu-176の半減期の決定の結果を,国際学術誌Communications Physicsにおいて報告した.同成果は複数の新聞に取り上げられた.

Reason

高精度の核宇宙年代計となりうる消滅核種98Tcを実用化すべく,娘核種である98Ruの高精度同位体分析法の確立を目指していたが,Ruの分離時における回収率が高い揮発性のために低下してしまうという問題に直面し,まだ手法の確立に至っていないことから,やや遅れているとした.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2024年度においては,2023年度に着手した隕石試料の高精度La同位体分析を種々の隕石試料に拡張することにより,原始太陽系円盤における超新星放出物分布を明らかにする.これらの結果と,これまでに研究で明らかになっている消滅核種92Nbの不均質性と組み合わせることにより,原始太陽系円盤の同位体不均質性を引き起こした超新星爆発の時期に制約を与える.これらの結果を国際学術雑誌において報告する.また,92Nbよりも半減期が短く,より高精度の核宇宙年代計となりうる消滅核種98Tcを実用化に向けて,娘核種である98Ruの高精度同位体分析法の実用化を引き続き行っていく.
