Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、①XAFS分析に先立つ蛍光X線(XRF)マッピングの高速化と、②同位体比分析必要試料量の2桁減少という本研究で鍵となる2つの基盤技術を確立し、③ペルム紀末から三畳紀にかけての遠洋域堆積岩および遠洋海山炭酸塩岩の同位体比分析と放射光XAFS分析を高時間分解能で行い、ペルム紀末大量絶滅イベント時の環境変動とその回復過程を解明する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、①XAFS分析に先立つ蛍光X線(XRF)マッピングの高速化と、②同位体比分析必要試料量の2桁減少という本研究で鍵となる2つの基盤技術を確立し、③ペルム紀末から三畳紀にかけての遠洋域堆積岩および遠洋海山炭酸塩岩の同位体比分析と放射光XAFS分析を高時間分解能で行い、ペルム紀末大量絶滅イベント時の環境変動とその回復過程の解明を4年間で行う計画をしている。
2023年度は、遅れていたon the flyステージが納品された後、既に開発していた測定プログラムを通して速やかにテストを行い、①XAFS分析に先立つ蛍光X線(XRF)マッピングの高速化を達成した。試料の走査範囲にもよるが、約1000マイクロメートル四方であれば、1/10程度の時間でXRFマップの取得を実現した。
また、③ペルム紀末から三畳紀にかけての遠洋域堆積岩のSr同位体比分析を行うとともに、硫黄およびリン化学種分析を実施した。ただし、硫黄については硫酸塩種が多く検出されており、初生的なものであるのか、試料採取後に酸化したのか要検討である。また、リン化学種分析では、予想以上にケイ素の蛍光X線によるバックグラウンド増加が顕著であり、スペクトルの取得は達成したものの、質の良いスペクトルが取得できていない。

X線化学種分析に関しては測定データの質に改良の余地が残るものの、概ね当初計画通りの進捗状況であるため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

リン化学種分析ではケイ素による妨害のため、当初予定よりも大幅に測定時間を要する状況となっているため、当初計画よりは化学種分析に用いる時間を増やす必要がある。それ以外は概ね計画に従って実施する。
