Outline of Research at the Start

高価な「物理シミュレーション」を安価な「数理モデル」に置き換えて,工学設計を高効率に最適化する手法が近年主流となっている.しかし従来の手法は,シミュレーションにおける入出力関係を数理近似しているに過ぎず,工学設計の礎である物理法則を忠実に反映しているとは言えない.そこで本研究では,様々な物理シミュレーションから得られる,忠実度(物理的厳密性)の異なるデータを活用した,階層モデルベースによる最適化手法を開発・実証する.これにより,最適化の高精度化・低コスト化という数理モデルとしての効果に加えて,設計者の合理的な理解・意思決定を物理モデルベースで支援する新たな効果を目指す.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は,昨年度から取り組んでいる設計の数理と物理を繋ぐ代替モデルについて,更なる基礎検討に取り組んだ.ニューラルネットワークによる機械学習の過程において局所収束を起こす事象が,翼型周りの流れ場予測において確認されたため,その原因解明を行った.機械学習が局所収束している序盤においては,翼型の壁面境界条件(滑りなし)を満たすように,翼型の前方で流れを強制的に減速させるような外力(流体の支配方程式の残差と等価)をもたらす非物理的な流れ場が再現される.さらに機械学習を継続していくと,流れを減速させる外力が次第に消えていき,解析領域内部における流体の支配方程式が満たされ大域的には物理的な流れ場が再現される一方,翼型物体内部(本来は流れ場がない)の狭い領域に仮想的な流れ場が再現されることにより翼型の壁面境界条件の残差が逆に増えてしまい,壁面近傍に局所的に現れる境界層の再現精度を悪化させる.つまり,機械学習の損失関数を構成する,流体の支配方程式の残差と境界条件の残差はトレードオフの関係にあり,これらの残差を両立的に低減できる機械学習を実現することが,設計の数理と物理を繋ぐ代替モデルの設計応用への鍵を握ることが判明した.
また,代替モデルの実証例の1つである熱流体デバイスのトポロジー設計に着手し,トポロジーを表現するための設計変数の定義,トポロジーを製造するための制約条件の選定など,最適化問題としての定式化を検討した.

本研究の主力機材であるGPUワークステーションの移設および増設と,それに伴う電源増設工事の手配に時間を要したため.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

開発モデルの基礎検討結果を踏まえて,開発モデルの細部について更なる改良に取り組む.また,複合忠実度データに基づく代替モデルの階層化に取り組み,計算精度の改善および計算コストの低減を目指す.さらに,開発モデルの実証例である熱流体デバイスのトポロジー設計,および不確かさを考慮した航空機翼の設計にも着手する.
