Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の概要は、離島火山の噴火活動にともなって発生する火山性地震の観測網を海底に構築することである。伊豆大島では、地下の数キロ～10キロメートルにマグマ溜まりが存在していると考えられていて、周期的な噴火活動の際に、そのマグマが上昇する過程で火山性の地震が起こる。この地震活動を観測することは、噴火のタイミングの予測や噴火後の活動推移の予測の高度化に不可欠である。
