Outline of Research at the Start

超弾性合金は血管治療機器のステントなどに用いられ、その発展が医療の発展に重要である。しかし、現状の生体用超弾性チタン合金の超弾性ひずみはTi-Nb合金では2.5%程度と小さく、また、超弾性変形応力も100-200MPa程度と低く、双方の増加が必要となっている。しかし、マルテンサイト変態温度の低下と格子変形ひずみとの間には本質的にトレードオフの関係があり、その両立は困難である。本研究では、この問題に対し、新しい超弾性チタン合金の設計として共析系β安定化元素の少量添加とα安定化元素の多量添加を見出し、これにより本トレードオフを打破し、チタンの巨大室温超弾性ひずみの発現に挑むものである。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は巨大形状回復ひずみを有する室温超弾性チタン合金の創成と相安定の解明と題し,準安定βTi合金の応力誘起マルテンサイト変態による超弾性ひずみの室温における最大値の追求と,その相安定性を解明するものである.Ti合金の形状記憶・超弾性効果は,Tiのbcc相とそのマルテンサイト斜方晶間の無拡散変態とその格子変形に起因する.室温で超弾性を得るためにはこの相変態温度を室温以下にする必要があり,これはβ安定化元素を十分添加することで達成できる.しかし,それによりbccとhcpの中間的な構造のマルテンサイト相の結晶構造もbccに近づき,格子変形ひずみが大変小さくなる問題がある.我々は,この問題に対し,共析系β安定化元素の少量添加とα安定化元素の多量添加により打破する可能性を見出した.そこで,チタンの室温超弾性での最大可逆変形の限界に挑み,その相安定性を解明することを目的としている.
本年度は,昨年度に引き続き,α安定化元素の多く添加したTi-Cr系,Ti-Mo系,Ti-Au系,Ti-Fe系について研究を進めた.特に,Mo当量をベースにした材料開発では,新たにTi-Ni-Al系で超弾性が発現することを見出した.Ti-Cr-Sn系では,室温超弾性を発現するTi-Cr-Sn基合金に時効熱処理を施し,相分離過程における組成制御および組織制御の可能性を検討した.共析系では,αーβ 2相分離による組成変動が他の系と比べ大きいとの結果が得られたが,これについては次年度により詳細に調べていく方針である.また,Ti-Mo系の相安定性に及ぼすAlおよびZr添加の影響や,本合金開発における機械学習の利用として深層学習による等軸粒組織解析の高精度化などを進めた.また,本研究をベースとしたTi系以外の合金の形状記憶合金の研究も行った.

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

共析系や偏晶系添加元素を含むチタン合金において,その超弾性発現機構を明らかにした.予測通り,相安定性に起因する応力誘起マルテンサイト変態であり,従来は超弾性の報告がまったくなかったTi-Ni系(B2 TiNiではなく,bccのβTi相)やTi-W系でもオメガ相抑制元素を十分に添加していれば超弾性が発現することを確認することができた.ただし,Ti-Ni-Al合金については,機械的性質があまり良くなく,実用に耐えられるほどの材料とは現在の判断では思えないところが残念である.これらの成果として,12報の論文を公表した(うち,1件はアグネ社雑誌「金属」の一般向け解説論文).機械学習による研究も予定より進んでおり,機械学習の研究については2024年度に論文として公表できる予定である.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究は生体用チタン合金の室温超弾性における究極の格子変形ひずみを追求するもので,その機械的性質,超弾性挙動,結晶構造,相変態,相安定性について,実験,計算,マテリアルインフォマティックスの面から研究する計画に変わりはない.2023年度は,予定通り,特任助教1名を雇用して進めた.当特任助教については2024年度からは助教となり,本研究の研究分担者として引き続き参画する.ただし,本研究に携わっていた助教2名が2023年度一杯で,1名は退職して民間企業に異動し,もう1名は東工大内の別部局で昇進異動したため,2024年度からは本研究との関わりがなくなった.このため,実験補佐員1名の新規雇用に加え,さらに機械学習の研究を加速するために,2023年度末で定年となり名誉教授となった東工大情報系教員を研究員として雇用し本研究に加わってもらうこととした.これらにより順調に本研究が推進されると思っている.
