Outline of Research at the Start

陸上植物の葉はもっぱら緑色であり、地球上のどの植生帯においてもほとんど同じ光の吸収・散乱特性を示す。これは主として光合成の光化学系におけるアンテナ色素複合体を構成しているクロロフィルaとbが主として青色と赤色の光を吸収するからである。従って、緑色光が光合成に利用される効率は低く、その結果、青色や赤色の光で栽培する場合に比べバイオマスが小さくなることが知られている。本提案では、緑色光を、蛍光タンパク質を使って、利用されやすい光色に変換したら、バイオマスを増大させることは可能か、化学発光タンパク質を使って植物の細胞内で光を発生させた場合、光合成に利用されうるかを検証する。
