Outline of Research at the Start

クリーンな元素である水素を軸とした水素社会実現のためには、安定なセラミックス材料は産業応用上かかせない。本研究では、まず、プロトン含有酸化物クラスターを軸にした酸触媒の開発や、固体結晶におけるプロトンを媒介とする新規反応を開拓する。また、ヒドリド含有セラミックスのボトムアップ合成や、分極率が大きいなどのヒドリドの特長を利用してイオン伝導など機能開拓する。さらに、ヒドリド・プロトンの共存・変換を利用した機能開発も目指す。これらの研究を通じ、「水素イオンセラミックス」という新分野の確立とイノベーションの創出を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

急速に進行する地球温暖化、資源問題は人類が直面する喫緊の課題である。その問題を解決するには、クリーンな水素をエネルギー源とした反応プロセスの技術革新が必須である。水素が関わる反応や材料(固相、液相、気相)は、多岐に渡っており、世界中で様々な角度から研究が行われているが、安定性や持続可能性、環境調和の観点から、酸化物を始めとしたセラミックス材料の優位性・重要性は明らかであり、本研究課題では、水素をとりまくセラミックス材料の新物質・新反応の開拓および革新的機能の創出を目指している。ヒドリドに関して最も顕著な成果は、EuVO2H単結晶薄膜が基板のからの応力の影響で、水素層から酸素層への電荷移動が起こり、それに伴い巨大垂直磁気異方性が発現すること、さらには強磁性転移温度が4倍増加することを見出したことであり、この成果はプレスリリースした(JACS 2023)。また、圧力の刺激によりアニオンの秩序無秩序転移を世界で初めて起こすことに成功したことや(IC 2023)、窒化水素化物における優れた触媒機能の起源を解明した。プロトンに関しては、極性をもつポリ酸において優れたプロトン伝導性を見出しており、その起源について現在調査中である。また、プトロンを含むペロブスカイト系で従来にはみられない今日誘電転移現象を発見した。プロトン、ヒドリド共存系に関しては、実験と理論ともに協力しながら物質探索や安定性の調査を精力的に行なっている。

Reason

研究前半であるためとにかくできることを令和5年度はひたすら挑戦してきた。失敗も多かったが、中には思いがけない発見を含めてブレークスルーにつながる結果も続々とでてきている。また、固体化学、有機、錯体など異なる分野の研究者がいるため最初は理解ができない部分も多かったが月一以上のミーティングを重ねることで理解がふかまってきてる。成果としてはプロトンに関しては、正電荷をもつ新規クラスター物質の発見、Barbier-Grignard反応(C-C結合形成反応)などで極めて優れた酸触媒性、極性クラスターからなるPOMの優れたプロトン伝導、水素結合を利用したマルチフェロイック材料など、ヒドリドに関しては、溶融塩による酸水素化物の合成と透明金属伝導、液相経由でBaTi(O,H)3ナノキューブ合成と最大ヒドリド量の達成、逆ペロブスカイトの巨大オフセンターリング、共存系については、ペロブスカイト酸化物における逐次トポケミカル反応、また解析についてもMAS-NMRによりH2/H-/H+の存在状態の識別方法を確立や★画像機械学習を用い、酸水素化物のH-含有量予測などの成果があがっている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

プロトン:HSbOIなど正電荷クラスター化合物の触媒特性開拓を進め、POMを基軸としたプロトン伝導性材料を探索する。プロトン経由脱水反応ではCo以外への展開を図り、購入したin-situ TEMホルダーを用いて反応機構を観察、理論と連携して解析する。さらに、ILGに加え、LiAlH4などによる新規プロトン化を多様な酸化物で試みる。NH4+含有層状ペロブスカイトについては、その構造とダイナミクスをNMRや中性子散乱で解析し、強誘電性やマルチフェロイクス特性の探索を行う。さらにSH-など分子イオンの導入も進め、水素結合制御による新規機能材料の創出を目指す。
ヒドリド:BaTiO3ナノ粒子に見られた水素化阻害を踏まえ、ナノ酸化物の水素化とヒドリド量の向上に取り組む。LiH含有溶融塩による酸水素化物合成、特にNb系などの探索を進め、理論計算も活用。メカノケミカル法では、前駆体の剪断弾性率に注目して新材料の合成と構造解析を行う。ヒドリド塩溶液の開発では、有機変換反応や触媒応用も視野に入れ、Ti系酸水素化物の超伝導や人工超格子界面の導電性など機能も開拓。
プロトン・ヒドリド:層状ペロブスカイトを中心にH+/H-共存材料を探索し、NMR・XAFS・中性子により状態解析を進める。低温H+/H-化ではスパッタ担持金属の活用や薄膜PLD法による人工超格子の設計を行い、両水素種の分離を実現。電圧印加による界面水素密度の創出と、それに伴う新奇機能や量子現象の発現を目指す。
