Outline of Research at the Start

私たちの身の回りには生命や健康に関わる危険物質にあふれている。それらを効率よく検出し、ひいては選択分離や除去もしくは無害化に向けた変換をする材料を開発し、安全な科学技術を確立する必要がある。本研究では、物質の捕捉、濃縮、貯蔵、輸送といった空間機能を持つ多孔性配位高分子と、電荷、電子輸送能を持つ無機材料とを相乗的に接合することによって、外部微量物質の検出、分離・変換機能を持つ新しい空間システムを創出・制御し、環境、エネルギー、健康・医療に関わる社会的課題への応用展開を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は「相乗的インターフェースの空間化学」の開拓を目指し、1) 高感度検出、2) 認識・捕捉・分離、3) 高効率分解・変換の3つの研究項目を設定し、それぞれに注力した。特に1) 高感度検出と2) 認識・捕捉・分離において顕著な進展を遂げた。(1)高感度検出:
PCPハイブリッド系を用いたケミレジスタ特性の開発を行い、化学環境に反応して電気抵抗が変化する新しいタイプのケミレジスタを実現した。この材料は爆発性物質を超高感度で検出することができ、1ppqという極めて低い検出限界を達成した。これにより、爆発物や有害物質の迅速かつ高感度な検出が可能となった。(2)認識・捕捉・分離:PCP/MOFの細孔に小分子を選択的に取り込む特性を活かし、分子の認識、捕捉、分離機能を発現させた。可動分子を導入することで、温度によるガス分子の分離を制御し、軽水と重水の分離に成功した。また、CO2選択的吸着技術も確立し、環境負荷の低減に貢献できる材料を開発した。これにより、二酸化炭素の回収や分離技術の進展が期待される。(3)高効率分解・変換:PCP/MOFの触媒機能を活用し、環境浄化や有害物質の分解を目指した。特に電気化学反応において、配位ネットワーク構造の補強により、硝酸イオン還元反応において高い触媒活性を示す材料を開発した。また、ハイドロゲルとPCP/MOFのハイブリッド材料によるバイオ材料の開発にも成功し、環境や医療分野での応用が期待される。
これらの成果を基に、さらなる相乗的機能を発現する材料の合成を目指し、今後も研究を進めていく予定である。

Reason

上記の通り、本研究課題が掲げる「相乗的インターフェース空間」の創出による高次機能の実現に向けて、3つの主要な研究細目を設定した。具体的には、1. 高感度検出、2. 認識・捕捉・分離、3. 高効率分解・変換 の3つである。これらの細目は、相乗的インターフェース空間における各機能がどのように相互作用し、高度な化学反応や物質変換を促進できるかに焦点を当てている。それぞれの研究細目は、化学反応の効率化や新規機能の創出、さらには実際の応用に向けた基盤技術の確立を目指しており、これまでの研究期間で多くの顕著な進展を遂げてきた。
これまでの成果は、各細目において順調に進展しており、その成果は国際的に権威のある学術誌に掲載された。具体的には、Nature、Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences、Nature Communications、Angewandte Chemie International Edition など、いずれも世界的に影響力のある雑誌であり、研究成果の信頼性と重要性が高く評価されている。
また、本研究は単一のサブテーマに留まらず、各サブテーマ間の相互作用や統合に向けて順調に進んでおり、今後はそれぞれの成果を融合させ、全体として一つの新しい化学領域を構築することを目指していく。この統合によって、これまでの研究結果を活かしながら、新たな機能や応用の可能性を広げ、化学分野における革新的な発展を促進していく予定となっている。具体的には、これまでに得られた知見をもとに、より高効率な反応系や新規機能材料の開発を進め、社会に貢献できる形で成果を展開していく計画である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本課題では、PCPとヘテロ材料を組み合わせた新たな「相乗的インターフェース空間」の創出を目指している。この空間は、物質輸送やシグナル伝達における生体膜のような機能を模倣し、分子認識、捕捉、貯蔵、輸送といった機能を高度に発現させることを狙っている。具体的には、PCPの優れた機能性空間と、電荷、電子、フォトン、フォノンの変換機能を持つヘテロ材料との融合により、動的で相乗的なインターフェースを形成するための基盤を構築していく。
(1) 高感度検出に関しては、2023年度までの成果を基に、より高選択性を持ち、実用性の高いハイブリッド材料の開発に取り組む。これにより、特に環境や医療分野での社会的ニーズに応える技術を確立し、実用化を目指す。また、PCPと基板材料のインターフェース空間における理論解明を進め、この技術の応用範囲を広げていく。
(2) 認識、捕捉、分離に関しては、微量の有害物質の認識・捕捉・分離に関する基盤技術を確立する。これにより、従来困難とされていた物質の高精度な取り扱いが可能となり、PCPやMOF(多孔性有機材料)の膜化など、材料の形態変化も含めたさらなる研究を進める。特に、環境保全や健康管理に直結する技術開発に注力する。
(3) 高効率分解・変換に関しては、2023年度までに得た知見を活かし、有害物質の効率的な分解・変換を実現するデバイスの創成に挑む。これにより、環境負荷の低減や持続可能なエネルギー供給に貢献できる技術を開発する。様々な有害物質を対象に、より高効率な処理が可能な新しいアプローチを構築していく。
これらの推進方策を通じて、今後の研究では、相乗的インターフェース空間の化学的な理解を深め、新たな機能の創出に繋がる成果を得ることを目指す。
