| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では、①大名家でどのように古代中世の絵画（古画）に価値が見いだされ、選択・受容されたのか、②近世の絵画制作に、大名家がどのように関与していたのか、③江戸時代を通じて、大名家コレクションはどのように形成されたのか、という三点を問題意識として一貫させつつ、複数の大名家の所蔵品を精査し、相互に比較する。本研究により、分家や代替わり、公家からの輿入れも含む婚礼など、各家特有の出来事や、藩祖の神格化、将軍家・幕府中枢との関係といった大名家ごとの個性が、絵画コレクションにどのように反映されているかを明らかにすることを目指す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Throughout the three years, (1) the establishment and implementation of the “Study Group on the History of Daimyo Art” and (2) a survey of works related to the Daimyo family were conducted, and research results based on (1) and (2) were published in articles and other publications. The research results based on (1) and (2) were presented in papers and other publications. Young researchers also made oral presentations at the same meeting, which provided an opportunity to share research topics and exchange ideas. In addition to surveying artworks related to their own research topics, in FY2024, the final year of the project, all members conducted a survey of the collection of the Uwajima Date Culture Preservation Society in cooperation with the Date Museum in Uwajima City. New findings from this survey are planned to be published in a collection of articles in collaboration with researchers in the fields of literature and history.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
絵画作品の受容や制作の背景を検討する際、大名家の価値基準を一つの指標することにより、近世絵画はもとより、中世以前の絵画についても、今日にまで至る享受史を捉え直すことができた。龍澤が調査の成果としてフリーア美術館所蔵「酒呑童子絵巻」（狩野昌運筆）が、黒田家伝来であることを明らかにしたように（龍澤2022）、海外に流出した日本美術についての国際的な研究にも展開し得る視座が得られた。大名家コレクションは各地の美術館・博物館で管理されているケースも多く、研究分担者の髙岸輝が監修した高松市歴史資料館「万物流転」展（髙岸2023）のように、研究成果を共有することで、広く社会に還元される可能性も見いだせた。
