本研究は、日本人以外の翻案者も関わることが多い村上春樹文学のアダプテーション（翻案）を「世界文学」という視点から捉えることで新たなアダプテーション研究の可能性を追求するとともに、村上文学の「日本」性および文化や言語を超える普遍性について討究する。世界各国で翻案された映画・舞台・アニメ・絵本・漫画・文学という異ジャンルのアダプテーションを対象にし、総合的かつ学際的な研究を行うことで、アダプテーション研究と「世界文学」研究の連携の有用性、グローバル化の影響下にある村上文学・および日本文学の可能性を討究する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study seeks to explore the possibilities for new adaptation research by taking a “world literature” perspective on adaptations of Haruki Murakami's literature, which often involve non-Japanese adaptors, and to discuss the “Japaneseness” of Murakami literature and its universality that transcends culture and language. By conducting comprehensive and interdisciplinary research on adaptations of different genres such as film, stage, animation, picture books, manga, and literature that have been adapted around the world, we will discuss the usefulness of collaboration between adaptation research and “world literature” research, and the potential of Murakami literature and Japanese literature under the influence of globalization. The project will also explore the potential of Murakami literature and Japanese literature under the influence of globalization.

本研究は、グローバル規模で享受され、現在進行形でアダプテーション作が生成され続けている村上アダプテーションを対象にすることで、①アダプテーション研究と「世界文学」研究の連携の有用性、②グローバル化の影響下にある村上文学・および日本文学の可能性を討究する点に学術的意義および社会的意義を有す。
