| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では1940年代における児童文学の理論・作品の展開と変容を主に2種類の雑誌メディアに注目し明らかにする。
対象とする雑誌の一つが体制と密接な関係を持つ大人向けの総合児童文化雑誌（『新児童文化』『少国民文化』）であり、もう一つが民間資本による児童雑誌（『週刊少国民』）である。まずは基礎的資料の整備をするとともに、出版背景が異なる雑誌メディアを精査し、1940年代の児童文学状況を立体的に把握し、戦後の児童文化・児童文学と教育、メディア状況、体制の関係性を分析し、1940年代における児童文学の展開／変容、連続／非連続、継承／分断のメカニズムとダイナミズムの一端を明らかにすることを目指す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focused on children's magazines in the 1940s, and attempted to clarify how children's magazines and children's literature developed and changed. As basic work, we collected, located, and confirmed the contents of children's magazines from the 1940s, which had been insufficiently maintained up to now. We analyzed the contents of multiple sources and created a detailed table of contents, including information on authors. At the same time, we collected and cataloged materials related to children's literature and children's culture published at the same time as the magazines in question.
In addition, by holding a study group (“Research on Children's Magazines in the 1940s”) together with outside experts, we deepened our research across fields, paying particular attention to poetry and children's songs, and pointed out the deep involvement of the national system and educational administration in the transformation of children's literature during the war.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は1940年代の児童雑誌を通時的に分析し、時代の転換点に際し、子ども向けメディアが児童文学・児童文化固有の論理にとどまることなく、複雑な同時代状況や、教育状況をはじめとした隣接領域との関係、出版環境やメディア状況、教育行政をはじめとした国家体制との複雑なパワーバランスのもとに展開、変容を遂げていく過程を実証的に明らかにした点に学術的意義が認められる。同時にこれまで不十分であった戦時下の児童雑誌の収集及び出版状況の整理、詳細な目次の作成により戦時下のメディア状況、児童文化・児童文学状況の一端を明らかにした点に大きな社会的な意義が認められる。
