Outline of Research at the Start	本研究課題は、選挙区を空間的政治制度と捉え、その歴史的推移を捉えることで、選挙区という空間的な制約が国民の政治参加にどのような影響を及ぼしてきたかを地域レベルから明らかにする。分析にあたっては、従来用いられてきた選挙データに各地の一次資料と地理情報データを組み合わせて行う。さらにこの課題の創造性を活かすべく、地域レベルに踏み入って検討する。選挙区が変わることで国民に何が起こるのか。それにより政治参加はどのように変わるのか。定数不均衡問題がクローズアップされ、アダムス方式による選挙区の見直しが定期的に行われる今後、どのように選挙区を改訂するべきかという議論にも示唆をもたらすことが期待される。
