Outline of Research at the Start |
This research project brings insights from design management and cultural studies to discuss the development path of Japanese companies over time. It looks at three industries (apparel, automobile, and watches) and analyzes the historical evolution of design management.
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The project started this year with a workshop (May 2022). Then, we have focused on gathering documents, carrying out interviews and making factory tours. A cooperation was also started with colleagues from Tohoku University and Musashino University for a possible extension of the scope of my research. We have also organized a Global Fashion Workshop (23.2.2023).

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The strict regulation against COVID-19 made it difficult to move in Japan and meet people during the first part of the academic year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The plan for 2023 is to continue carrying out individual research on our three industries (watches, cars, apparel) to prepare a session for the 2024 annual conference of the European Business History Association. The main investigator will also make research stays at Harvard Business School and Erasmus University (Rotterdam) to strengthen the international background of this research.
