| Outline of Research at the Start |
This research project brings insights from design management and cultural studies to discuss the development path of Japanese companies over time. It looks at three industries (apparel, automobile, and watches) and analyzes the historical evolution of design management.
|
| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The main activity realized during FY2024 was the organization of a session entitled "Design Management and Global Competitiveness: The Japanese Experience, 1950-2020" at the Annual Conference of the European Business History Association, in Lisbon (July 2024). The three participants in this research funding have presented the result of their research on fashion watches and cars. The exchanges with the discussant, Prof. Ben Wubs (Eramsus University, Rotterdam) and the audience have helped us to develop our papers. Besides, several papers were published, among which one in Business History Review (one of the world's top three journals in business history).

Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
We are following our plan and are working on a joint paper to close the research plan.
|
| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For FY2025 (last year), we will focus on preparing a joint paper between the three participants in this project and submit it to an international journal.
