| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究の目的は、専門サービス組織の組織成長の要因と過程を明らかにすることである。すでに触れたように、組織の成長は時間的変化を持つ多面的な現象であるため、この答えを導くには、定量および定性研究を併用する必要がある。Penroseの理論を援用すれば、組織成長の要因と過程を明らかにするためには、インタビューなどの質的研究を通して当事者の機会の認識や経営資源の使い方の意思決定を分析する必要がある。この点について、本研究では、営利企業ではなく、専門サービス組織を対象とするため、既存研究の境界条件が明らかにできる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research focused on the growth and internationalization of Professional Service Firms (PSFs), conducting empirical analyses of Japanese patent firms. Key accomplishments include publications in international journals on "Exchangeability of growth measures of professional service firms" and "The Penrose effect in the internationalization of Japanese patent firms," as well as book publications and multiple conference presentations. The research verified the Penrose effect how professionals' time constraints limit organizational growth;and analyzed growth mechanisms of sole practitioners through both quantitative and qualitative approaches. These findings contribute to developing growth theory not only for patent firms but for PSFs in general, addressing theoretical challenges such as relationships between different growth measures and managerial capacity limits in internationalization processes.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、専門サービス組織（PSFs）の成長理論において、従来の製造業中心モデルとは異なるメカニズムを実証的に解明した。特に、成長指標の多元性・非互換性の発見とペンローズ効果の修正は、PSFs研究の理論的発展に貢献している。
社会的には、知識経済の中核を担う特許事務所等の成長戦略に実践的示唆を提供し、特に専門性深化と国際化のバランス、小規模PSFsの持続可能な成長モデルなど、専門サービス業の競争力強化に資する知見を生み出した。
