Outline of Research at the Start

強磁性相関が強くスピン三重項超伝導が発現していると考えられているUTe2の発見により、ウラン化合物の磁性と超伝導の研究は新たな局面を迎えた。本研究は、実験と理論の両面から盛んに研究が行われているUTe2の超伝導多重相の秩序変数、圧力誘起磁気秩序に加え、代表者が最近発見した結晶構造相転移、新しい圧力誘起相などを明らかにすることを目指す。また極低温での精密磁化測定、圧力下点接合分光測定などで多重超伝導相の磁気特性や超伝導ギャップのヒントを掴む。さらに超高圧下における物性測定やx線回折実験により、低温における結晶格子の圧縮率やUTe2の構造相転移の相境界、圧力誘起相転移との関連性を調べていく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

UTe2は強磁性相関が強く常圧下において発現する超伝導はスピン三重項状態であると考えられている。直方晶のb軸方向に磁場によって増強される超伝導や磁場誘起超伝導相、圧力下で現れる超伝導多重相と磁気秩序などエキゾチックな物性が次々と発見されており、大きな注目を集めている。本研究では、実験と理論から盛んに研究が行われているスピン三重項超伝導体UTe2の超伝導多重相の秩序変数、圧力誘起磁気秩序に加え、圧力下の結晶構造相転移、新しい圧力誘起相などを明らかにすることを目的としている。
今年度の主な研究実績とその概要は以下の通りである。(1)UTe2が室温で約3-4GPaにおいて圧力誘起結晶構造相転移が起こることをこれまでに明らかにしたが、低温におけるx線回折実験の結果から、低温においてはこの圧力誘起による構造相転移がさらに高圧下で起こることがわかった。(2)上記の1.により圧力―温度相図を描画したところ、常圧において摂氏約600-800度Cで相転移が起こる可能性が示唆された。示差熱分析法により常圧におけるUTe2の発/吸熱反応を調べ、UTe2の構造不安定性にともなう異常を確認した。(3)CeSb2の結晶育成を行い、圧力や強磁場下での物性測定を進めた。(4)UCu2P2の基礎物性や圧力下物性についての追加実験を行い、ウランの5f電子としては非常に高い強磁性転移温度を持つ同物質の発現機構に関する論文を執筆した。(5)UCuP2の圧力下電気抵抗測定を行ったが、量子臨界点に関わるような異常は確認されなかった。(6)新規化合物UPt3Al5の基礎物性や磁気構造について詳しく調べた。

Reason

本研究において具体的な研究計画としては、(1)UTe2のスピン三重項超伝導多重相の超伝導/磁気特性を明らかにする、(2)UTe2の高圧物性の解明、(3)UCuP2などの圧力誘起新奇量子相および新物質/新物性探索、を行う予定である。
本研究においては、UTe2で発現するスピン三重項超伝導、超伝導多重相、圧力誘起超伝導相など多彩な超伝導状態についての知見を得るとともに、それに付随する様々な性質などをあきらかにしていくことを目的としている。今年度は、UTe2の圧力誘起構造相転移の相線を低温から高温にわたって調べ、それに伴う、常圧での構造不安定点を見いだすなどUTe2の高圧物性に関する研究を進めた。
ウランは核燃料物質に該当し、少量の場合でも国際規制物資として、その使用や取扱は法律によって制限されている。本研究課題を進めるために、九州大学での核燃料物質、国際規制物資の使用目的/方法の変更や新たな使用室を設定するなど法律に乗っ取った手続きを終え、点接合分光による微視的研究をスタートした.
UCu2P2については、国際共同研究により基礎物性から高圧物性までの一連の結果について論文の作成をほぼ終えておりまもなく国際誌に投稿する予定である。
以上のことから本研究は当初の計画通り概ね順調に進んでいると考えている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

九州大学においてUTe2の常圧下での点接合分光を進め、超伝導ギャップの測定を行う。さらに作製した高圧下点接合分光測定用圧力セルを用いて加圧テストや加圧下での点接合分光測定手法を検討した後実際の測定を行っていきたい。UTe2の圧力下磁化測定を行い圧力誘起相転移の起源を調べる。関連物質であるUTeSeやUTeAsなどの特に圧力誘起超伝導の探索を主眼とした高圧下物性研究、さらにUCuP2やUCu2P2などのウラン化合物強磁性体の量子臨界性の探索などを行っていく。
