Outline of Research at the Start

強磁性相関が強くスピン三重項超伝導が発現していると考えられているUTe2の発見により、ウラン化合物の磁性と超伝導の研究は新たな局面を迎えた。本研究は、実験と理論の両面から盛んに研究が行われているUTe2の超伝導多重相の秩序変数、圧力誘起磁気秩序に加え、代表者が最近発見した結晶構造相転移、新しい圧力誘起相などを明らかにすることを目指す。また極低温での精密磁化測定、圧力下点接合分光測定などで多重超伝導相の磁気特性や超伝導ギャップのヒントを掴む。さらに超高圧下における物性測定やx線回折実験により、低温における結晶格子の圧縮率やUTe2の構造相転移の相境界、圧力誘起相転移との関連性を調べていく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

電子格子相互作用による電子間の引力で発現する超伝導とは異なり、UTe2では強磁性相関が強く基底状態で発現する超伝導はスピン三重項状態であると考えられている。直方晶のb軸方向に磁場によって増強される超伝導や磁場誘起超伝導相、圧力下で現れる超伝導多重相と磁気秩序などエキゾチックな物性が次々と発見されており、これらの超伝導相の新奇性が様々な観点から議論されている。本研究では、このスピン三重項超伝導体UTe2の基底状態および圧力下での超伝導相の秩序変数、圧力誘起磁気秩序に加え、圧力下の結晶構造相転移、新しい圧力誘起相などを明らかにすることを目的としている。
今年度の研究の概要は以下の通りである。(1)UTe2の室温で約3-4GPaにおいて現れる結晶構造相転移と、常圧において摂氏約600-800度Cで起こる相転移の関連性について調べた。(2)常圧においてUTe2の電子状態を明らかにするため、探針と試料を微小面積で接触させた状態で微分伝導(dI/dV)を測定する点接合分光測定を行った。微分伝導の温度依存性などを測定した。ウラン化合物では伝導電子と遍歴f電子との混成によって近藤効果と類似した振る舞いがしばしば見られるが、点接合分光からも混成によると思われる結果が得られている。(3)圧力誘起結晶構造相転移後に現れる200K付近の相転移が磁気転移に由来する可能性があると示唆される研究結果が発表されたため、これを明らかにするための研究の進め方について検討を行った。(4)新規化合物UPt3Al5の中性子回折実験を行い、2つの反強磁性相の磁気構造を明らかにした。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

本研究においてはUTe2で発現するスピン三重項超伝導、超伝導多重相、圧力誘起超伝導相など多彩な超伝導状態についての知見を、圧力下/磁場下でのバルク測定や、結晶構造や構造パラメータの圧力変化などから得るとともに、それに付随する様々な性質などをあきらかにしていくことを目的としている。
これまでUTe2の圧力誘起構造相転移の相線を低温から高温にわたって調べ、それに伴う常圧での構造不安定点を見いだすなどUTe2の高圧物性に関する研究を進めてきており、今年度はさらに電子状態を直接捉える微視的測定として点接合分光実験に取り組んだ。この手法は被測定物の表面状態に大きく依存するため、やや不安定で酸化しやすいUTe2では測定開始までに表面状態が劣化、また実験の合間のタイミングで酸化が進み試料が割れるなど、適切な信号を得るまでに試行錯誤を繰り返す必要があった。また研究対象が国際規制物資であるため、追加試料を供給元である東北大から移送するための時間がかかり、実験の着手が遅れた。
関連物質であるUTeSeやUTeAsなどの高圧下物性を全国共同利用施設である東大物性研究所で測定する予定であったが、研究体制の変更や装置のトラブルなどで年度内に実験を行うことができなかった。UCu2P2については、国際共同研究により基礎物性から高圧物性までの一連の結果について論文を作成したが高圧下のx線回折実験などの追加実験が必要となり実験や解析を進めている。
以上のことから本研究は当初の計画よりやや遅れている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

九州大学においてUTe2の常圧下での点接合分光を進め、超伝導ギャップの測定を行う。さらに高圧下点接合分光測定用圧力セル(ピストンシリンダー型とブリッジマンアンビル型)を用いて加圧下での点接合分光測定実験を進める。東大物性研究所のキュービックアンビル型高圧装置での核燃料物質の使用が承認された後、関連物質であるUTeSeやUTeAsなどの高圧下電気抵抗測定を行う予定である。さらにUCuP2やUCu2P2などのウラン化合物強磁性体の量子臨界性、また新物質の探索などを行っていく
