Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では宇宙空間の衝撃波における高エネルギー電子加速の問題に取り組む.統計的衝撃波ドリフト加速モデルの考え方に基づき,理論的な電子エネルギースペクトルの数値計算コードを開発し,第一原理数値シミュレーションと人工衛星による観測データ解析とを組み合わせることで,電子注入の理論モデルとして確立する.これによって長年未解決であった衝撃波電子加速における注入問題の解決に向けた研究を行う.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

地球のバウショックにおける高周波ホイッスラー波と衝撃波パラメータの関係を、MMS衛星データを用いて統計的に調べた.その結果,衝撃波遷移層内のホイッスラー波強度はAlfvenマッハ数と正の相関を持つことが分かった.理論的にはde Hoffmann-Teller系で定義したAlfvenマッハ数が重要になるが,このパラメータと波動強度の間にも強い正の相関が見出された.理論から統計的衝撃波ドリフト加速に必要とされる波動のしきい値との比較から,この値が30-60を超えると粒子加速が効率的になると予測される.これは過去の研究で示されている電子加速効率と衝撃波パラメータ依存性と整合的で,地球バウショックの電子加速が統計的衝撃波ドリフト加速によって説明できることを意味する.さらに,これとは独立に実施した海外の研究者との共同研究からも理論と整合的な結果が得られている.
また,波動の励起メカニズムについても議論し,高ベータのプラズマの方が波動励起に有利な可能性を示唆した.理論的にも波動励起メカニズムについての検討を行い,観測と整合的な予備的結果を得ている.
よりマッハ数の高いパラメータ領域ではホイッスラー波ではなく,ワイベル不安定性に伴う波動が励起され,電子の散乱,ひいては加速に寄与すると考えられる.このパラメータ領域においても不安定性の検討を進め,イオンが駆動する不安定性にもかかわらずよりスケールの小さい電子が重要な役割を果たすことを理論および数値シミュレーションから明らかにした.
