Outline of Research at the Start

太陽風をエネルギー源とした磁気圏擾乱は電離圏極域に伝達し、電離圏電場・電流を駆動、変動は磁気赤道にまで到達し、電離圏全球にわたる電場・電流の形成が示唆されている。 その全容および形成メカニズムは、太陽地球系の電磁エネルギー伝達の最終出力であるとともに、電場変動は通信・測位に影響するなど、宇宙天気予報においてもその解明は課題となっている。本研究は、「電離圏伝導度非一様による分極場生成、それによる電場再構成・電流増幅効果の全球的発現」のアイデアを軸に、数値計算・データ解析・理論により電場・電流構造の全容とその形成メカニズムに迫る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、「電離圏全球モデルによる数値計算」「超多点地上観測データ解析」「電離圏分極効果理論」により、オーロラ嵐発生時時の電離圏電場構造・電流経路の全容およびその形成メカニズムを解明することを目的とする。手法としては、「大規模沿磁力線電流(FAC)・電離圏背景伝導度(日照依存成分)・オーロラ嵐FAC・オーロラ帯伝導度(オーロラ嵐発生により増強する成分)」という複数自由度において、数値計算と観測データの解析をとおし、自由度ペア毎の電離圏電場・電流パターンを調査、さらに電離圏モデルに分極場分離法を適用し、自由度ペア毎に伝導度分布・電場内訳(1次,2次場)・電流内訳(1次,2次のHall, Pedersen電流)を解析し、全球にわたる電場再構成と電流連結を明らかにし、普遍的なメカニズムを解明しようとするものである。
2022年度に初期結果を得た「理論的に予測される電場・電流パターン」の現れ方を、FACを観測ベースで与えた場合について調査した。結果、理想的な数値実験と同種のパターンが得られている。但し、数値計算結果が、人為的に与えざるを得ないオーロラ帯伝導度によって大きく異なることから、パターンの構成要素の定量的内訳の推定および観測データとの比較による合致・非合致の同定は慎重に進めている。

Reason

観測データ解析:2022年度に作成したオーロラ嵐イベントリストから、冬・夏・春秋それぞれの季節について(日照に依存する電離圏背景伝導度分布に対応)、「大規模FAC」、およびそれに対する「オーロラ嵐FAC」の分布の代表的なパターンを選出し、それぞれのイベント時の電場・地上磁場データの解析を実施した。解析結果の数例について、以下に述べる数値計算との比較を実際した。
数値計算について:
観測データ解析で同定された「大規模FAC」および「オーロラ嵐FAC」の分布と強度を実際の数値計算の入力とし、電場・電流構造を算出した。オーロラ伝導度については、分布はオーロラFACと連動させ、強度を複数パターンに分けて実施した。
結果を観測データ解析と比較し合致・非合致を調査するとともに、「分極場分離法」を適用し、電場内訳(1次,2次場)・電流内訳(1次,2次のHall, Pedersen電流)を定量的に求めている。しかし、観測ベースではなくテスト計算的に与えているオーロラ帯電気伝導度に計算結果かなり左右されることから、その定量的決定は慎重に進めている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

数値計算において、現在は観測ベースではなくテスト計算的に与えているオーロラ帯電気伝導度に計算結果かなり左右されることが課題となっている。まずこれを解決するために、数値計算におけるオーロラ帯電気伝導度を入力FACと連動させて与えるについて、複数の先行モデルの方法論を試し、より尤もらしい与え方を推定する。その上で、あらためて数値計算と観測データを比較し、電流・電場の構成要素の内訳を調査する。
