Outline of Research at the Start

There is remarkable wind power potential besides hydropower potential at river sites since the air above them is usually not interrupted by any topographic obstacles. Being able to utilize both energy sources will obviously increase the power output as well as the sustainability of the power production.
A Permanent Magnet Counter-Rotating Generator that allows direct energy conversion from two sources with compact size and high efficiency will be developed in this research.
It is believed that such a generator will have great potential for application in river-rich countries such as Japan.
