Outline of Research at the Start	微生物や植物は自身でメチオニンを生合成できる。しかし、ゲノムが解読された細菌で一般的な生合成遺伝子を保持しない菌株が見出され、新規なメチオニン生合成経路の存在が示唆された。そこで本研究では、細菌のメチオニン生合成におけるその新規経路の解明を目指す。本研究成果で得られるメチオニン生合成に関する新たな知見は、学術的に意義深く、応用的にも発酵生産や抗菌剤開発の重要な基盤になることが期待される。
