Outline of Research at the Start |
Livestock being regarded as the sub-sector contributing to gender balanced socio-economic development, this study is expected to provide a crucial policy implication to overcome the gender gap (work burden) persistent in rural Nepal that resulted in ‘feminization in agriculture’ and ‘feminization in poverty.’
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As per the plan, I made a preparatory visit to the study rural municipality and contacted the relevant authority of the local government with assistance from collaborating organization (FORWARD Nepal) and collaborators Assoc. Prof. Kattel and Assoc. Prof. Barsila in September 2022. This visit was helpful in selecting three wards for this study. A follow-up visit was made in February 2023, during which group discussions were conducted in the three wards to grasp the overall picture of migration and livestock rearing in the wards.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
A full-scale field survey will be carried out in February 2024. A questionnaire will be developed and discussed with the research collaborators before this. A finalized questionnaire will then be submitted to the Institutional Review Board for approval. Pre-testing of the questionnaire will also be done in February 2024. Enumerators for data collection will be hired through FORWARD Nepal to ensure that the financial transactions will comply with the financial regulation of the Government of Nepal.
