Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study showed that organic farming plots had greater soil microbial abundance and higher nitrogen and phosphorus cycling activities than conventional plots. In tomatoes, organic fertilizer plots produced larger fruit weight, higher lycopene content, and improved quality, while maintaining stable photosynthesis. In apple orchards, leaf litter accumulation enhanced long-term carbon storage and shaped unique microbial communities, indicating orchards may act as carbon sinks. Integrated observations revealed close links among photosynthetic rate, fruit load, and microbial activity, identifying key factors for productivity. These findings strengthen the scientific basis of organic farming and support sustainable practices in line with the “Green Food System Strategy.”

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
