Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
The selective autophagy receptor p62 functions to selectively degrade exogenous materials such as transfected nucleic acids. In HEK293 cells, p62 was found to directly bind to the adenoviral protein E1B, which impairs p62 function through direct interaction. Furthermore, inhibition of p62 phosphorylation promoted adenovirus replication. p62 is phosphorylated by TBK1, and its phosphorylated form contributes to maintaining TBK1 activity, forming a positive feedback mechanism. These findings demonstrate that selective autophagy mediated by p62, originally a mechanism for eliminating exogenous materials, also plays a role in regulating adenoviral infection.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
