Outline of Research at the Start

パーキンソン病治療の問題点は、病気の進行を止める薬が存在しないことである。そのため症状を一時的に改善する薬しかなく、長期間にわたって使用するため、薬を飲んでもコントロールができなくなる等の問題が発生する。この病気の進行を止めるためには、原因となっている脳の黒質ドパミン神経細胞死を抑制する治療薬が必要である。これまでの私達の研究において、パーキンソン病モデル動物で脳のドパミン神経細胞死を抑制する化合物が見出されている。この化合物の周辺類似化合物を合成し、薬として安全性があり臨床開発できる十分な効果を持つ化合物を見つけ出すことが本研究の概要である。
