Outline of Research at the Start

我々は日々の生活において社会的状況下で意思決定を行っている。人の意思決定においては、自律神経機能の中枢である視床下部による調節があると考えられるが、社会行動に関わるオキシトシンを分泌する室傍核や報酬関連領野に投射する外側野を含め、視床下部がどのように社会的な意思決定に関わるのかは良くわかっていない。そこで本研究では、申請者が培ってきた高解像度の機能的磁気共鳴画像法(fMRI)を用いた視床下部の神経核領域を同定する方法を用いて、社会的な意思決定における視床下部神経核レベルでの脳活動と機能的結合を明らかにし、視床下部の社会的な意思決定への影響を解明する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度は、食品に関係する意思決定課題を用いて視床下部の脳活動を計測するTask-fMRIの実験(前年度実施)のデータ解析を行った。すでに実施済みのRest-fMRI実験の画像データからBoundary mapping(BM)法により同定した視床下部神経核の場所を前年度に特定しており、それらをRegion of interest(ROI)として、ボクセルベースの全脳解析と合わせて、データ解析を実施した。
データ解析では、食品に関係する意思決定課題の視床下部神経核レベルでの脳活動と機能的結合の解析を進めた。前年までは、視床下部の室傍核や外側野など意思決定に関係すると考えられる神経核の脳活動は観測されたが、条件間(食品vs. 非食品)に有意差が見られなかった。また、MRI実験後にTask-fMRIにおいて呈示した画像の評価を7点のリッカートスケールで行ったので、そのデータを画像解析に取り入れたが、有意な関係を見出すことはできなかった。そこで、2つの選択肢から選択する方式から評価額を直接入力する方式へ課題を修正して、Task-fMRIの実験を実施した。今年度に行ったMRIデータ解析の結果、脳活動において、食品と非食品の条件間で評価に差があった。また、食品条件でのみ空腹と満腹で差があった。続いて、視床下部神経核と大脳皮質との機能的結合の解析を行った。現在のところ、視床下部神経核と大脳皮質との機能的結合の計算まで終了している。

Reason

今年度は、昨年度に実施した課題を修正したあとのTask-fMRI実験のデータ解析を進め、意思決定における全脳および視床下部神経核の脳活動と、視床下部神経核と大脳皮質との機能的結合を明らかにすることを目指した。Task-fMRIで計測された脳活動データの解析を進めたところ、データ解析の結果、食品と非食品の条件間で評価に差があった。また、食品条件でのみ空腹と満腹で差があった。視床下部神経核と大脳皮質との機能的結合の統計解析が遅れており、残りの解析を次年度に実施したい。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

次年度は、機能的結合の解析を早期に終了させて、データをまとめて国内学会(日本脳マッピング学会を予定)において研究成果を発表する。そして、研究成果をまとめて国際ジャーナルに投稿する。
