Outline of Research at the Start

うつ病の発症メカニズムは不明であるが、ストレスが原因の1つとされている。しかし、同程度のストレス負荷において、うつ病を発症する人としない人が存在し、ストレス感受性には個人差がある。近年、うつ病の原因として炎症が着目され、ストレス負荷による炎症誘導機構が報告されている。そこで、「ストレス感受性の上昇」はストレスによる炎症誘導能が増強している状態ではないかと考えた。本研究では、独自に開発したストレス感受性の高いヒトヘルペスウイルス6（HHV-6）潜伏感染うつ病モデルマウスを用いて、ストレス感受性の上昇がストレス負荷による炎症誘導能に及ぼす影響を明らかにし、うつ病の発症メカニズムを解明する。
